An apparatusfor developing electrophotographic images has a storage hopper 1 with an opening 2athe size of which can be varied by a solenoid actuated slide 2 to vary the rate of dischargeof developer. Developer is returned to the hopper by rotating blades 9. In a modification,Fig. 2 (not shown) a storage hopper has three compartments (30) which can be rotatedinto operative position. Each compartment has a gate (34) for varying the rate ofdischarge of developer which may be differently coloured in different compartments.The blade 9, Fig. 1, may be modified as described with reference to Figs. 3 and 4 (notshown).
