Driving machines. -To prevent access of swarf &c. to the bevel driving-gear of dental drills, open lubricationholes are omitted and a comparatively large aperture is provided in the gear case topermit ready examination of the gearing, the aperture being closed by a fitted coverwhile the gear is in use. Fig. 2 shows a hinged spring cover b adapted to close theaperture in the gear casing a. A thumb-nail notch is provided for lifting the cover. In amodification the cover takes the form of a sliding plate which may be retained in theclosed position by friction or by a spring stop. In a further modification the aperture isclosed by a fitted cover f, Fig. 5, retained in place by screws g. The Specification as opento inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) described the application of the invention to bevel-gear casings generally. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification asaccepted.
