名词性从句的省略

wh-特殊疑问词引导的名词性从句，若有与前面句子重复的内容，则可将重复的内容省略，而只保留特殊疑问词wh Someone has used my bike, but I don‟t know who (has used) He will come back, but he doesn‟t know when (he will come back) 在某些表虚拟语气的名词性从句中，从句谓语动词中的助动词should可以省略。

作答语时，I‟m afraid/I think /I believe/I hope/I guess/…..的后面接so或not分别表示肯定或否定，宾语从句可省去。 Do you think it will rain

I hope not ( not=that it will not rain)

在性定语从句中，作宾语的关系代词that, which, who , whom.常可省略。

The man (who/whom) I saw is called Smith Where is the book (which) I bought this morning

有些定语从句，在不引起歧义的情况下，可省略一些成分，变为“介词+关系代词+不定式”

状语从句中的省略

在as ,till, once, when, while等引导的时间状语从句中 While (I was ) waiting, I was reading some magazines 在though, although 等引导的让步状语从句中。 Though (they were ) tired, they went on working 在if, unless等引导的让步状语从句中。

You shouldn‟t come to his party unless (you were ) invited 在as, as if , as though 引导的方式状语从句中 He did as (he had been ) told

He paused as if ( he was ) expecting her to speak

当从句中的主语是It，谓语动词又含有系动词be时，可以把It和系动词be一起省略，此时构成“连接词（if ,unless, when, whenever）+形容词”的结构。

Unless (it is ) necessary, you „d better not refer to the dictionary 还可以用so或not ，代替上文，此时“if+ so/not “省略句式。 Get up early tomorrow; if not（if you don‟t get up early）, you will miss the first bus
