Blood donation
Blood shortage has been in serious condition nowadays, if not given added weight, it may bring medical treatment crisis to the whole society. For this reason, our government calls on extensive blood donation, in terms of individuals’ sense of morality and justice.
Many people are inclined to donate blood at their own will. This is where the old saying works, “One in trouble, all to help.” it’s of great significance to donate blood voluntarily, which is also a good way or approach to show their love, sympathy and responsibility. Other individuals, however, hold the attitude that it’s not worthwhile to donate blood without payment. Moreover, large numbers of medical needles may let us easily be infected with terrible disease. AIDS and hepatitis are cases in point.
I hold the view that blood donation deserves to be advocated or encouraged, providing that we are capable of ensuring the medical needles safe and the organization holding the donation standard. Armed with love, as well as self-protection, we are destined to make the world a better place.
Dormitory life, without doubt, exerts a great influence on undergraduates in not only their 4-year studies but also the whole life in a long run. A harmonious atmosphere or environment in dormitory often guarantees a happy and fruitful
campus life.
Generally speaking, roommates are close friends who enjoy each others’ company ,especially girls. There is a high probability that the four have lessons together, dine at the same table and go shopping side by side. Nevertheless, something unpleasant is still inevitable. So small is the dormitory that even a little stir may disturb others. Noise is a case in point. A majority of us must have such kind of experience—being wakened up unwillingly by the running taps every morning. In addition, the distinctions in customs or values also contribute to the conflicts between roommates growing up in different places.
In my humble opinion, mutual understanding and tolerance are the only solution to this problem. Leading a dormitory life teaches me how to share my troubles as well as my joys with others and take others' feelings into consideration. To conclude, east or west, dormitory is the best!
“Hey, look at that Santa Claus in the shop window, it is cute.” Has this ever come into your ears in the street, especially in December? Your answer may be “more than many times.” In company with all these dolls, western festivals seep into our daily life quietly. And the wave of western festivals hits our traditional ones over and over again.
Here comes the question: why do western festivals get such a warm welcome? It is, in my opinion, a result of people’s curiosity for western culture. Although we call the big world a global village nowadays, western culture still remains a mystery
for most of us. Another reason we should take into consideration is western festivals themselves. Take Halloween as an example, “trick or treat” really delivers a great fun to us.
Faced with this condition, we should not go to extremes. Western festivals should be treated soberly for they provide us with an opportunity to understand westerners’ way of thinking, their life style and their wisdom of living. But we should not let them take the place of our own festivals and culture in our hearts. When the marvellous smell of turkey hangs in the air, can you still remember what moon cake smells like?
