Passage 1 (25%):

This is a happy and memorable occasion for me personally and for the members of my delegation. On behalf of all the members of my mission, I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to our host for their earnest invitation and the gracious hospitality we have received since we set foot on this charming land.

In accepting Your Excellency’s gracious invitation to this great city, I have got an excellent opportunity to convey to you and to the people of Shanghai the warm greetings and sincere good wishes of the government and people of my town. I would like you to join me in a toast to the health of Your Excellency and to the health of all our Chinese friends present here.

Passage 2 (25%):

In an era dominated by electronics and telecommunications, we can never emphasize too much the importance of change. Motorola defines “change” as both challenge and opportunity. The past decade has seen Motorola seize the opportunities opened up by changes in China and build itself into one of the most successful American investors in the country.

With a firm commitment and substantial investment, we promote technological progress in China. By doing so, Motorola’s brand has become a household name in China. We have laid a lot of groundwork, and helped China to implement its own strategy. We will reinvest and bring new technology into China.

Passage 1 (25%):

国际旅游是促进各国人民相互了解的有效途径。有着五千年文明史的中国是各国人民向往的旅游目的地。中国人民创造了世界上无与伦比的灿烂文化，名胜古迹比比皆是，如北京的长城和故宫、杭州的西湖、桂林的山水。

然而展现在您面前的是一整套全新的游览节目，其中大部分以中国传统文化为特色。这些旅游节目集观光、度假和文化活动于一体，使海外游客有机会了解中国文化，尽情观赏所到之地的历史名胜和人文景观。

Passage 2 (25%):

育菁宾馆是一家高校涉外宾馆。宾馆拥有雅致舒适的标准客房和豪华客房，客房内设有卫星闭路电视系统和空调。宾馆还有多功能厅、会议厅、华丽宽敞的宴会厅多座，以及国际标准保龄球馆、桌球房、游艺厅、歌舞厅、商场、美容中心、桑拿浴房等设施。

宾馆曾多次安排国内外重要会议，接待经验丰富，是国内外教育界、科技界、文艺界的专家学者以及其他各界人士开展学术研究和文化交流的理想场所。

Passage 1 (25%):

International travel is an effective way of promoting mutual understanding among the peoples of the world. China, with its history of five thousand years’ civilization, is an attractive tourist destination for people of various countries. In its

long history of development, China has created a splendid national culture incomparable elsewhere in the world, with numerous scenic spots and historic sites all over the country, such as the Great Wall and the Palace Museum of Beijing, the West Lake of Hangzhou, and the natural scenery of Guilin.

However a whole new panorama of Chinese destinations awaits you, most of which are characterized by traditional Chinese cultures. The new tour programs, which are so designed as to incorporate sightseeing, vacationing and cultural activities, will five overseas tourists a chance to learn about Chinese culture and enjoy their visits to their hearts’ content to places of historic interest and cultural heritage.

Passage 2 (25%):

Yujing Hotel is a university hotel authorized to accommodate overseas guests. The hotel has elegant and cozy standard rooms and luxury suites, all equipped with closed-circuit satellite TV and central air conditioning. The hotel boasts a multi-functional hall, a conference hall, and a number of splendid and spacious banquet rooms, in addition to the bowling alleys of international standards, a billiard room, a game room, a ball room, a shop, a beauty salon, as well as sauna facilities.

The hotel has successfully hosted quite a few important domestic and international conferences. Its recognized experience in providing adequate accommodations for such activities renders the hotel an ideal location for academic and cultural exchange activities for international and Chinese scholars and specialists in such fields as education, science and technology, and literary and art, and for people with other professional backgrounds.
