It occurs to sb. that从句;以及occur与happen, take place等动词或动词短语的词义和用法辨析。
Take up, take on, take over, take out等,以及take构成的短语与其它动词短语的辨析上 2007年辽宁卷、2006年的山东卷,2009年的安徽卷都曾考查过。
+动词+that从句=Sb +is/was/are/were+过去分词+不定式”;2007年重庆卷曾考查过say的变化形式。

名词性从句中的连接词有连词that / whether / as if,连接代词what / who/ which / whose / whatever / whoever / whomever / whichever,连接副词where / when / why / how / wherever / whenever。 (1)that的用法
That they are good at English is known to us all. The problem is that we don’t have enough money.
She expressed the hope that they would come to China one day.
He judged that, because he was a child, he did not understand wine. Everyone knew what happened and that she was worried. The reason lies in that she works harder than the others do.
(A)It is clear/certain/likely/true/surprising that… (B)It is a pity/shame/good idea/no wonder that ...
(C)It is said/reported/ believed/known/thought/suggested that … (D)It seems/happens that。如: It happened that I went out last night. It is said that China will win in the World Cup. 【点拨】that和what的区别。
It’s shame that he has made such a mistake. Do what he says.
They expressed the hope that they would come to visit China again.(同位语从句) The hope she expressed is that they would come to visit China again.(定语从句) 【点拨】whether和if的用法
It all depends on whether they will come back. ②后面直接跟or not 时用whether如:
I didn’t know whether or not he had arrived in Wuhan.
Whether the meeting will be put off has not been decided yet. The question is whether they have so much money.
We ought to discuss carefully the question whether we can do it or not.
The question of whether they are male or female is not important. I have not decided whether to go or not.
Thank you, but whether I’ll be free I’m not sure at the moment.
Whether he comes or not, we will begin our party on time.
Whoever breaks the rule must be punished. You can choose whatever you like in the shop. Whoever breaks the rule, he must be punished,
Whatever you do, you must do it well.
No matter what you do, you must do it well. No matter who breaks the rule, he must be punished.
They put forward the question where they could get the money. This is the place where the accident happened.
Hello, I didn’t know you were in London. How long have you been here? The teacher told us that light travels at a very high speed.
When the meeting will begin has not been decided yet.
When they will start and where they go have not been decided yet. When and where the meeting will begin has not been decided. 3、
He asked me what was the matter with me.
We’ve heard the news that we’ll move into the new house. Whatever you say will interest us all.
1. A computer can only do ________ you have instructed it to do.
A. how B. after C. what D. when 【答案】C 考查的是名词性从句作宾语的用法
2. —I drove to Zhuhai for the air show last week..
—Is that _________ you had a few days off ?
A. why B. when C. what D. where 【答案】A。
3. I hate __________ when people talk with their mouths full.(NMET 98)
A. it B. that C. these D. them 【答案】A。

Many people who work in London prefer to live outside it, and to go in to their offices or schools every day by train, car or bus, even though this means they have to get up early in the morning and reach home late in the evening.
One advantage of living outside London is that houses are cheaper. Even a small flat in London without a garden costs quite a lot to rent. With the same money, one can get a little house in the country with a garden of one’s own.
Then, in the country one can rest from the noise and hurry of the town. Even though one has to get up earlier and spend more time in trains or buses, one can sleep better at night and during weekends and on summer evenings, one can enjoy the fresh, clean air of the country. If one likes gardens, one can spend one’s free time digging, planting, watering and doing the hundred and one other jobs which are needed in a garden. Then, when the flowers and vegetables come up, one has the reward of one who has shared the secret of Nature.
Some people, however, take no interest in country things: for them, happiness lies in the town, with its cinemas and theatres, beautiful shops and busy streets, dance-halls and restaurants. Such people would feel that their life was not worth living if they had to live it outside London. An occasional walk in one of the parks and a fortnight’s (two weeks) visit to the sea every summer is all the country they want: the rest they are quite prepared to leave to those who are glad to get

Although you’ll probably live longer than you imagine, don’t count on being healthier. The need for and the cost of health care typically increase dramatically as you age. On average, for example, a 40-year-old man consumes about $2,000 a year in health care services, whereas a typical 75-year-old consumes five times that much. That’s why, as the population ages, huge inflationary pressures are put on the health care system.
How big will those pressures be in the next century? Over the past 40 years, health care costs have risen an average of 70 percent faster than the general rise in prices—and that was

Who will pay the bill? No one knows for sure, but it’s a good guess that the next century’s elderly will become responsible for paying a much larger share of their own costs than their counterparts do now. Qualification requirements for Medicaid nursing-home benefits, for example, are likely to be tightened. Since the cost of a nursing-home bed is projected to be $97,000 a year by 2030, those who don’t make financial preparations for aging _________________________.

Though the last winter was rather cold, my neighbor Grandpa Li, who is a childless old man, felt very warm from the bottom of his heart.
During the winter, his neighbors often visited him and did housework in turns. Before the Spring Festival the government sent him enough flour, meat, oil and other daily necessities. My mother helped to wash the clothing for him. Following mother’s example, I swept his floor, together with some of my classmates. We also cleaned his rooms, pasted Spring Festival couplets and hang some red lanterns in his yards, which made his home take on a new look.
In our society everyone should give help to those who need help. If everyone devotes a bit, all of us may feel even warmer.
