TheHT9032callinglineidentificationreceiverisalowpowerCMOSintegratedcircuitdesignedforreceivingphysicallayersignalstransmittedaccordingtoBellcoreTR-NWT-000030andITU-TV.23specifications.Theprimaryapplicationofthisdeviceisforproductsusedto
receiveanddisplaythecallingnumber,ormessagewaitingindicatorsenttosubscribersfromthecentralof-ficefacilities.Thedevicealsoprovidesacarrierdetec-tioncircuitandaringdetectioncircuitforeasiersystemapplications.

Thisinputpinisconnectedtothetipsideofthetwistedpairwires.Itisinternallybiasedto1/2VDDwhenthedeviceisinpowerupmode.ThispinmustbeDCisolatedfromtheline.Thisinputpinisconnectedtotheringsideofthetwistedpairwires.Itisinternallybiasedto1/2VDDwhenthedeviceisinpowerupmode.ThispinmustbeDCisolatedfromtheline.Thisopendrainoutputgoeslowwhenavalidringingsignalisdetected.WhenconnectedtoPDWNpin,thispincanbeusedforautopowerup.
Thisopendrainoutputgoeslowindicatingthatavalidcarrierispresentontheline.Ahyster-esisisbuilt-intoallowforamomentarydropoutofthecarrier.WhenconnectedtoPDWNpin,thispincanbeusedforautopowerup.
Thispinpresentstheoutputofthedemodulatorwhenchipinpowerupmode.Thisdatastreamincludesthealternate²1²and²0²pattern,themarking,andthedata.Atallothertimes,thispinisheldhigh.

FunctionalDescription
TheHT9032isdesignedtobethephysicallayerde-modulatorforproductstargetedforthecallerIDmarket.ThedatasignalinginterfaceshouldconformtoBell202,whichisdescribedasfollows:
·Analog,phasecoherent,frequencyshiftkeying·Logical1(Mark)=1200+/-12Hz·Logical0(Space)=2200+/-22Hz·Transmissionrate=1200bps
·Dataapplication=serial,binary,asynchronous
·Logical0(Space)=2100Hz·Transmissionrate=1200bps
SincethebandpassfilteroftheHT9032canpasstheV.23signal,hencetheHT9032alsocandemodulatetheV.23signal.Ringdetection
Thedatawillbetransmittedinthesilentperiodbetweenthefirstandsecondpowerringbeforeavoicepathises-tablished.TheHT9032shouldfirstdetectavalidringandthenperformtheFSKdemodulation.ThetypicalringdetectioncircuitoftheHT9032isdepictedbelow.Thepowerringsignalisfirstrectifiedthroughabridgecircuitandthensenttoaresistornetworkthatattenu-atestheincomingpowerring.ThevaluesofresistorsandcapacitorgiveninthefigurehavebeenchosentoprovideasufficientvoltageatRDET1pintoturnontheSchmitttriggerinputwithapproximatelya40Vrmsorgreaterpowerringinputfromtipandring.WhenVT+oftheSchmittisexceeded,theNMOSonthepinRTIMEwillbedriventosaturationdischargingcapacitoronRTIME.Thiswillinitializeapartialpowerup,withonlytheportionsofthepartinvolvedwiththeringsignalanal-ysisenabled,includingRDET2pin.WithRDET2pinen-abled,aportionofthepowerringabove1.2Visfedtotheringanalysiscircuit.Oncetheringsignalisqualified,theRDETpinwillbesentlow.
Theinterfaceshouldbearrangedtoallowsimpledatatransmissionfromtheterminatingcentraloffice,totheCPE(CustomerPremisesEquipment),onlywhentheCPEisinanon-hookstate.Thedatawillbetransmittedinthesilentperiodbetweenthefirstandsecondpowerringbeforeavoicepathisestablished.ThetransmissionlevelfromtheterminatingC.O.willbe-13.5dBm+/-1.0.Theworstcaseattenuationthroughtheloopisexpectedtobe-20dB.Thereceivertherefore,shouldhaveasen-sitivityofapproximately-34.5dBmtohandletheworstcaseinstallations.TheITU-TV.23isalsousingtheFSKsignalingschemetotransmitdatainthegeneralswitchedtelephonenetwork.Formode2oftheV.23,themodulationrateandcharacteristicfrequenciesarelistedbelow:

Normally,thePDWNpinandtheRTIMEpincontroltheoperationmodeoftheHT9032.WhenbothpinsareHIGH,theHT9032issetatthepowerdownmode,con-suminglessthan1mAofsupplycurrent.Whenavalidpowerringarrives,theRTIMEpinwillbedrivenbelowVT-andtheportionsofthepartinvolvedintheringsignalanalysisareenabled.Thisispartialpowerupmode,consumingapproximately1.9mAtypically.Oncethe
PDWNpinisbelowVT-,thepartwillbefullypoweredup,andreadytoreceiveFSK.Duringthismode,thedevicecurrentwillincreasetoapproximately3.2mA(typ).ThestateoftheRTIMEpinisnowa²don¢tcare²asfarasthepartisconcerned.AftertheFSKmessagehasbeenre-ceived,thePDWNpincanbeallowedtoreturntoVDDandthepartwillreturntothepowerdownmode.
